China's Xi: China and Europe to expand cooperation to better respond to global challenges

Following his meeting with European leaders on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that they hope China and Europe can expand their cooperation to better respond to global challenges, as reported by Reuters.

"We hope Europe will offer a fair, transparent and unbiased environment for Chinese firms," the president added. "We hope European countries can play more active roles in international affairs, truly realise strategic independence."

Market reaction

These comments were largely ignored by market participants. As of writing, the Euro Stoxx 50 Index was up 0.18% on the day at 4,091.
