AUD/USD knee-jerked higher on Stevens comments; 0.9400 intact


FXStreet (Moscow) - AUD/USD spiket to 0.9393, but the bullish momentum was not strong enough to test the pivotal 0.9400 resistance, as the pair retreated to 0.9386.



Stevens’s words are not to be sneezed at

AUD/USD is a lame duck. The pair failed to settle above 0.9400, which makes it potentially vulnerable to new losses from technical perspective. Glenn Stevens gave his the annual Anika Foundation speech where he tried to sound moderately optimistic, though contrary to expectations, no comments about Aussie exchange rate has been made yet. Currency traders reacted by Aussie buying towards 0.9400. Important technical levels to watch: 0.9400 on the upside (good old resistance) and 0.9322on the downside

Today's central pivot point can be found at 0.9382, with support below at 0.9361, 0.9349 and 0.9328, with resistance above at 0.9394, 0.9415 and 0.9427. Hourly Moving Averages are flat with the 200SMA neutral at 0.9380 and the daily 20EMA neutral at 0.9384. Hourly RSI is bullish at 51.
