China Ministry of Commerce spokesperson: China will safeguard ‘its legitimate rights and interests’ - SCMP

"The U.S. had assigned a lot of labels, such as backtracking, going back on one’s word, and so on. Lots of promises have been foisted on China,” Gao Feng, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce, said and added that China was committed and had kept its promises, as reported by South China Morning Post.

Commenting on the U.S. threat to hike the tariff rate up to 25%, “China's position and attitude are consistent. We oppose increasing tariffs unilaterally. There is no winner in trade wars. This is not in line with China's interests, it is not in line with US interests, and is not in line with global interests," Gao noted.
