Japan's Chief Govt spokesman: Japan committed to raise sales tax by 10% in October

Japan's Chief Government spokesman reiterated the Japanese government’s commitment towards the plan to raise sales tax in October.

He noted that the government will raise sales tax by 10% in October barring an economic slump on the scale of a "Lehman shock". 

On Tuesday, Kozo Yamamoto, Japanese senior ruling party lawmaker with close ties to PM Shinzo Abe and one of the architects of the premier’s stimulus policies, said that the government will likely proceed with a scheduled sales tax hike in October.
