Australian ForMin: Alarm bells ring on China's rise in foreign policy white paper – AFR

In a white paper to be published on Thursday, as cited by AFR, the Australian Foreign Ministry warned, “China's increasing belligerence over territorial disputes and potential clash over democratic values calls for stronger efforts to maintain American presence in Asia and to bolster ties with neighboring democracies as a check against Beijing's rise.“

The government's Foreign Policy White Paper added, “Without US political, economic and security engagement in the region, power would shift too rapidly to Beijing to Australia's detriment.”
