German CPI rises 0.7%, HICP up 0.5% YoY in September

The inflation rate in Germany as measured by the consumer price index is expected to rise 0.1% in September and 0.7% on annual basis, based on the results available so far, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported Thursday. 

Expectations were for a flat monthly reading and a 0.6% increase YoY. August CPI was revised to +0.1%.

The harmonised consumer price index for Germany, calculated for European purposes, came in  flat in September and grew 0.5% year on year, both matching expectations. 

The final results for September 2016 will be released on 13 October 2016.
