Key events ahead in the US: Jobless claims and Fed speak – TDS

FXStreet (Barcelona) - The TD Securities Team previews the key events and data releases ahead in the day in US – Weekly jobless claims, Speech from Fed members Kocherlakota, Brainard and George.

Key Quotes

“US Economic data will see a lull on Thursday, with only weekly jobless claims expected to edge modestly higher to 290K from 281K.”

“The speaker circuit will see more activity, however, with Fed’s Kocherlakota (dove, non-voter), Brainard (dove, voter), and George (hawk, non-voter) making remarks.”

“A $13B 30yr reopening will wrap up the week’s auction calendar, with supply seeing strong demand thus far. Demand for long bonds has been less than stellar over the past few months despite last month’s reopening going relatively well. Higher outright yields, steepening on the 10s30s curve, and the ongoing risk-off theme could attract some demand, but we remain somewhat cautious as averages hint at a 0.7bp tail and 63% buy side award (51% to indirects and 12% to directs).”
