US initial jobless claims rose to five-week high

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The US labor department data released on Thursday showed the first time applications for unemployment benefits rose to a five week high of 281K in the week ended June 26, compared to the estimated drop to 270K from previous week’s 271K.

Jobless claims below 300K for 17th consecutive week

The jobless claims increased by 10K last week. The number stayed below 300K for the 17th straight week, a sign labor market momentum continues to strengthen. The four-week average of claims, which provides a more accurate picture of the labor market strength, increased by 1K to 274,750.

Meanwhile, the continuing claims rose by 15,000 to 2.26 million in the week ended June 19.

Riksbank cuts rates by 10bps, further easing ahead by November – TDS
